The Lost Post

This isn't a post that got lost, it's about the TV show Lost. Just to make it clear. It's not some incredible post I wrote years ago and misplaced it and can finally share it with the world. It's just yet another post about the Lost finale. OK? Hope it's not a cause for disappointment. There was, after all, enough disappointment with the Lost finale.

If you're still reading this post you do realize there are going to be spoilers right? So I hope you already saw the last episode. If you don't care and don't plan to watch Lost and just want a quick summary of what the hell happened, here's a quick recap:
A bunch of people crash land on an island and wonder what the fudge is going on since there's a smoke monster and people who are already on the island who are mean though through flashbacks we see these people met before the island and are tied together by faith. They try to figure out what's going on and some of them even get off the island only to return to fulfil their destiny which is that one of them needs to take over protecting some weird light in a cave.

Then everybody dies and hang out in a church in the afterlife and there's also a polar bear.

Mmm... Is that how they initially pitched the TV show? How the heck did it get made?

Anyway!

This College Humor video sums up quite comically all the unanswered questions we were left with (I'm glad they picked up on the same point I made about Jin and Sun's "romantic" death).

I thought the ending was crap due to leaving so many important questions unanswered.

Awful, awful, awful. Sentimental crap. Having characters stare at each other with teary eyes with sad slow music is only effective the first couple of million times.

I felt bad during the last ten minutes because for a second there I thought it might actually be good. They obviously planned out the core storyline of Jacob protecting the island and needing a replacement, but all the other excessive detail that was supposed to keep the fans guessing was actually a load of crap without a point.

Some of Lost defenders argue that it's not really about the mystery or the destination, it's about the characters and the journey, but I say bull. The main premise of Lost was the mystery and the show creators were encouraging fans to obsess over clues and hints, most of which were complete nonsense. It's lazy and misleading. The answer to everything: it's all magic.

Lost had lots of great moments. I still think the twist ending of series 3 with the first flashforward was one of my favourite TV moments. Really made me get up off the couch and go "wow, no way!" But the ending ruined it. It's like having a fine meal and end it with dog excrement for dessert. It ruins the whole experience. To the point that I'll tell to anyone who never watched the show, don't bother.
Meh, glad it's over.

P.S

Oh, and this is hilarious. That's it, no more Lost talk! EVER!

I stopped watching at some point during season 3, at which point the producers and writers vehemently denied that this was some kind of purgatory and that the characters were actually all dead. >big chuckle<
No worries about the finale Mickey knowing the way Hollywood works they are probably already writing the script for the second sequel to Lost the Movie...

I laughed, I cried! But mostly, I cried. Not because it was the end of a Series, but because I wasted so many years of my life watching it.
Jon is right, the producers did deny that they were dead.
Why did I overthink everything? Why did I write down the numbers on the Hatch trying to solve them like a puzzle?
Why did I get mad at the kids when they woke from bed while I was trying to watch it?
Yes, I kept watching the clock thinking, "How are they going to wrap this up with only 15minutes left"?
When it was over, I turned to Fred and said, "ah, okay then". We turned off the lights and went to sleep. Before we watched the finale, I was thinking that I'd be up for hours afterwards thinking how great they pieced together everything in the final. I was wrong.
This season was the worst on television. It made me mad and sad all at the same time.
True, I am starting to watch V. I'm loving it so far. I have an easier time watching a show that is suppose to be sci-fi vs. a show that is suppose to be "real".
Also, I'll miss "24". That show was great!

It just feels as if something was thrown together and they said "whatever, on to the next project, the checks cleared." It wasn't worth the build up but, they suckered me in all the years. I waited and it wasn't worth the wait. I fine meal spoiled indeed. But, at least we don't have to mention it again.

This show kind of reminds me of the creative over-indulgence that overtook the American version of Queer as Folk. The British version was short and sweet and knew when to wrap it up, even though some of the plots were left dangling. The American version, on the other hand, dragged on for years losing even the most dedicated viewers given all the crazy scripts and the writer's ultimate resort to sub-plots that became so incestuous, tedious and predictable that even the producer's realized that they had creatively milked this cow dry for the sake of commercialism and decided to pull the plug.

If there is one thing I'm certain of is that this is not the last LOST episode, stay tuned for those movie trailers... It's a shame because when Lost first came out I thought it was a form of video heroin that any cerebral person could not resist; but the failure of the writers to answer any questions even after 3 years turned me off and I realized that this probably started out as a bona fide creative initiative that became hijacked by financial analysts in the business departments of the production cos/studios..

Mmmhhhh... I must say that I am so very proud of myself for smelling bullshit back at the end of series two, when I decided to boycott this LSD induced TV series.
I am still waiting to know what the hell the monster noises were all about from series one... And the black smoke.... The polar bear in the campfire.... The stupid countdown machine.... The sky gone purple..... Why Jin is so hot and married to such a mingin' bird..... Why Sawyer doesn't get lypo..... Why do they kill Boon that was so cute.... Why the obese chap doesn't get a haircut.... I knew they couldn't possibly answer all that and keep me from laughing... So I laughed and spared myself the bother of having to wait until 2010 to find out that the joke has always been on us....Or....You really....!!! A-ha. Pffff.

Marco! Didn't your mother teach you that it's not nice to gloat?

If you're itching for a Boon fix check out Vampire Diaries, that actor plays a naughty vampire in it. It's not True Blood, but I like it a lot.
